Illinois home sales see fourth consecutive gain in December. Statewide total home sales in December 2009 were up 20.1 percent from the year before, while year-end home sales for 2009 were down just 1.5 percent, according to the latest IAR home sales report.

FHA announces major changes. On Jan. 20, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) outlined policy changes to help it better manage its risk. The 3.5 percent minimum down payment will remain, except for borrowers whose credit score is below 580. They will now be required to have at least a 10 percent down payment.
